Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how SnapCraft – Screenshot & Editor ("the Extension") handles information when you use it. SnapCraft is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to capture screenshots of web pages and annotate them using a built-in editor.

SnapCraft uses Chrome's local extension storage for the following user-created data:

• Recent captures: up to five screenshot images and thumbnails, together with capture type, timestamp, and the source page URL when available. Older entries are automatically replaced as new captures are added.
• Editor recovery: the current screenshot, annotations, counter value, browser-frame settings, and a session identifier. A matching session less than seven days old may be restored after an editor reload; later sessions overwrite earlier recovery data.
• Screenshot handoff: a local backup used to transfer a newly captured image into the editor if the extension service worker restarts.
• Preferences: the optional Downloads subfolder selected by the user.

SnapCraft does not collect or transmit the following to the developer or any third party:

• Names, email addresses, postal addresses, age, or other account information
• Screenshots, annotations, webpage content, or browsing history
• Mouse clicks, keystrokes, usage analytics, crash telemetry, or activity logs
• IP address, precise location, authentication credentials, or passwords
• Financial, payment, health, or personal communications data

The Extension does not require a SnapCraft account and contains no advertising or behavioral profiling.

All of SnapCraft's functionality runs entirely within your browser:

• Screenshots are captured using Chrome's built-in captureVisibleTab API. They may be stored in local extension storage for recent history, editor handoff, and session recovery, but they are never sent to a SnapCraft server.
• Full-page capture scrolls the page locally and stitches tiles in memory using an OffscreenCanvas. Nothing leaves your browser.
• Full-screen and window capture uses Chrome's system sharing picker. You explicitly choose which screen, window, or tab to share before a frame is captured.
• Annotations are drawn on a local HTML5 Canvas element inside the editor tab.
• Saving uses Chrome's Downloads API to write the file directly to your computer. No upload occurs.
• Clipboard copy uses the browser's Clipboard API — the image goes to your local clipboard only.

SnapCraft requests the following Chrome permissions solely to provide its core functionality:

SnapCraft does not integrate with, send data to, or rely on any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, cloud storage providers, or external APIs. There are no trackers, no SDKs, and no remote endpoints of any kind embedded in the extension.

• Captures begin only after you select a capture command.
• Full-page and delayed captures can be cancelled from the webpage HUD, the extension popup, or with the Escape key.
• Full-screen capture requires a separate choice in Chrome's sharing picker.
• You decide whether to copy or download an edited screenshot.
• You can clear all locally stored SnapCraft data through Chrome's extension settings or by uninstalling the Extension.

SnapCraft does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The same local-only processing and no-transmission practices described in this policy apply to every user.

If we update this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be published at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. If a future feature materially changes what information is processed, stored, or transmitted, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that feature is released.
